Dear Palmer,

I confirm my telephone conversation with you this morning that we had no comments to make on the draft reply to be sent to the Governor of Hong Kong,

submitted with your letter to Fleming of 29th April. (15)

We should be grateful if you would ask the

Hong Kong Authorities to expedite the matter and notify you immediately the legislation, providing for the return of the Hong Kong and China Companies registered in England, is enacted and the date on which it will become operative so that we can, at once, inform the companies concerned of the position.

Yours sincerely,

Watson

H. Palmer Esq., Colonial Office, Downing Street, S.W.1.
